Welcome to Bryson Branch Farm where God, family, goats and nature are at the center of our endeavors.  We have been raising Purebred Nubian Dairy Goats since 2001.  We admire these regal animals that provide us with their wonderful milk and endearing companionship.

Our farm is located in the scenic Appalachian Foothills of Southeastern Ohio near Athens. Consisting of 100 acres of hardwood forest, 70 acres of bottom lands and hilltop meadows, Bryson Branch is home to Gail, Mary and Aaron McPherson, our Black Labrador Retriever, Champion, as well as our small herd of Purebred Nubian Dairy Goats. Named after Bryson Branch Creek (from early settler in the area, David Bryson), the creek runs for nearly a mile across the property and has been home to the McPherson family for over 60 years.

2011 has been another year of change and growth for our herd as well the people who love and care for them.  This is our first year on owner-sampler DHIR test and this experience has altered how we view and manage our animals.  We have 6 does on test at present.

With personal demands of education pursuits for both Aaron and Mary, we again limited our show outings.  We did have a linear appraisal session in August and the girls were shown in 5 ADGA sanctioned rings between 3 shows.  Since going on test and doing our 5th LA session, we are realizing our preferences are leaning towards type and production versus the showring.  Although fun and enjoyable we believe the true test of a quality doe lies in her ability to milk and appraise consistently through many years of production. We must say our showring ventures were very rewarding  though as in those 5 rings we picked up 2 Grand Champion, 4 Reserve Grand Champion, and one Best of Breed among 4 different does.

The highlight of our year was definitely linear appraisal day.  Our faithful brood doe who produces the best tasting milk on the farm landed a 91 E (EEEE) on her 4th appraisal.  Sweet Grace has been a very important part of our breeding program and we hope this 7 year old can give us some more quality kids in the years ahead.  Her lovely daughter, Bryson Branch BH Pure Elegance, turned in another great appraisal review and again lived up to her name going an 89VG (EEVV) as a first freshening two year old.  The comment on Elegance was  this was the highest score she could be awarded because of her first freshening!  We have several exciting pairings in the plans for breeding this fall which includes bringing back in our first Sr. herdsire that really pointed us in a positive direction, *B Haf-Hidden-Acres Bryson's Hero via AI.  Please check out our who's breeding who page for details.  Thanks for stopping by and we hope you enjoy your visit.  Please feel free to contact us for questions or inquiries about our animals.  We love to talk dairy goats!
